First lady Michelle
Obama delivered a powerful speech at the Democratic national
convention’s opening night. Obama rallied passionately behind
presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton, while also recalling, in
evocative language, the history of black Americans who ‘felt the
lash of bondage’ and the ‘sting of segregation’. She said how
proud she now felt to see her daughters ‘play with their dog on the
White House lawn’
