The death
toll from the coronavirus is now 1,113 in mainland China after 97 victims were
added today, compared with 108 the previous day.
The number
of new cases in China was 2,015, the lowest daily rise since 30 January, giving
a national total of 44,670.
Cases also
fell to their lowest in weeks in Hubei province. But despite the apparent fall,
experts are urging caution that the fight against the virus is being won.
An
additional 39 people on board the Diamond Princess cruise ship have tested
positive, plus one local official who contracted the virus while on board.
Another
liner, MV Westerdam, is moored off Thailand after being refused port by four
countries. Passengers fear it could run out of food and fuel.
A
disturbing report from AFP says doctors in Wuhan are exhausted and shortages
mean they don’t have proper protective clothing.
