More than half of
Brits believe tightening migration controls is more important than
staying in the EU’s single market, according to a poll conducted
for broadcaster ITV, Bloomberg reported.
Just 44 percent of
those surveyed said membership of the single market should be
prioritized.
The opinion poll,
conducted by Survation and to be aired on Tuesday’s The Agenda
program, suggested 58 percent of Brits support the way Prime Minister
Theresa May is handling Brexit, while 25 percent disapprove.
The findings seem to
contradict a survey carried out for Sky News last week, which
suggested voters would like to see May focus more on trade deals with
EU countries than curbing immigration.
