Michael Moore has
announced the surprise release of a Donald Trump documentary.
The Oscar-winning
film-maker will bring Michael Moore in Trumpland to the big screen
with an initial New York screening where tickets will be free. The
film will then be officially released on 19 October.
The official
description reads as follows: “See the film Ohio Republicans tried
to shut down. Oscar-winner Michael Moore dives right into hostile
territory with his daring and hilarious one-man show, deep in the
heart of TrumpLand in the weeks before the 2016 election.”
Last month, Moore
shared on Facebook that he was banned from performing and filming the
show at a theater in Ohio. “It always amazes me when people choose
to just outright lie instead of simply admitting the truth and then
being proud of their decision,” he wrote. “I’m sure the good
people who run this theater are not, in their hearts, proud of what
they’ve done and were certainly hoping their little act of
censorship wouldn’t be known by anyone. They probably didn’t
think we’d bother to out them so publicly. That’s how small towns
get away with stuff like this. And if you grew up in one of these
places, you know what I’m talking about.”
His last film, Where
to Invade Next, was a disappointment at the box office, making just
$3.8m. He’s already been a vocal opponent of Trump and has said he
believes that his entire presidential campaign was constructed purely
to negotiate a better salary at NBC.
