Dans
les Yvelines, ce château accueille 200 réfugiés venus de Mayotte
Près
de 200 migrants, qui s’étaient installés dans le camp de Cavani à Mayotte, ont
été transférés au château de Thiverval-Grignon, dans les Yvelines. Ce centre
d’accueil, près de Paris, avait déjà hébergé 200 réfugiés en 2022.

Le château
de Thiverval-Grignon, dans les Yvelines, a accueilli 195 réfugiés dans la nuit
du lundi 26 février au mardi 27 février 2024. Ils avaient été évacués de
Mayotte vers la France métropolitaine, lundi. Arrivés sur place, ils ont été
immédiatement pris en charge par l’association Emmaüs, indique Le Parisien .

Originaires de l’Afrique de l’Est, ces
migrants étaient installés dans le camp de Cavani à Mamoudzou, la capitale de
Mayotte, après avoir fui pour les deux tiers la République démocratique du
Congo, touchée par une guerre civile, mais aussi le Rwanda, la Somalie ou le
Burundi. Ils disposent tous du statut de réfugié politique.
« Ce sont essentiellement des familles ou des
femmes seules qui logeaient dans un stade, à proximité de Mamoudzou (la
préfecture de Mayotte), dans des conditions déplorables. Dans le contexte tendu
que connaît actuellement l’île, l’acceptabilité locale à leur égard s’étiolait
», a indiqué une source préfectorale au quotidien francilien pour expliquer la
soudaineté de ce transfert.
Sur
place jusqu’à la mi-mars
La majorité
d’entre eux va rester sur place jusqu’à la mi-mars avant d’être redirigés vers
des solutions d’hébergement pérennes en province. Les
autres vont rejoindre de la famille en région parisienne.
Cette arrivée semble avoir pris de court la
municipalité : la maire Nadine Gohard, qui a écrit à ses administrés, a confié
être étonnée « de la soudaineté et l’urgence de la demande » et qu’elle n’avait
pas eu son mot à dire, la décision ayant été imposée par la préfecture.

(AME), qui permet aux étrangers en situation irrégulière d’être soignés en
France ?
Selon le Parisien, le château de
Thiverval-Grignon, propriété de l’État, avait déjà accueilli 200 réfugiés
sans-abri, fin 2022, pendant plusieurs mois. Le domaine a abrité l’école
d’ingénieurs AgroParisTech jusqu’en 2022.
Au total, 308 réfugiés d’origine africaine,
occupants du camp de Cavani à Mayotte et ayant obtenu l’asile, ont décollé
lundi, dans la journée, vers la métropole, tandis que 14 autres, déboutés, ont
été renvoyés vendredi vers leur pays d’origine.
Les quelque 113 autres migrants expulsés
devraient être pris en charge par deux autres préfectures, rapporte Mayotte
1ère .
L’installation de ces migrants dans l’enceinte
du stade de Cavani avait été le point de départ de blocages et de barrages
routiers de la part de collectifs d’habitants opposés à l’immigration, et qui
paralysent toujours en partie l’archipel.
Le démantèlement du camp avait démarré fin
janvier, en plusieurs vagues, puis repris avec plus d’ampleur le week-end
dernier.

The Château
de Thiverval-Grignon, in the Yvelines, welcomed 195 refugees on the night of
Monday 26 February to Tuesday 27 February 2024. They had been evacuated from
Mayotte to mainland France on Monday. When they arrived on the scene, they were
immediately taken care of by the Emmaus association, according to Le Parisien.

Originally
from East Africa, the migrants were settled in Cavani's camp in Mamoudzou, the
capital of Mayotte, after fleeing two-thirds of them from the Democratic
Republic of Congo, which has been hit by civil war, as well as from Rwanda,
Somalia and Burundi. They all have political refugee status.
"They
were mainly families or single women who were staying in a stadium near
Mamoudzou (Mayotte prefecture) in deplorable conditions. In the tense context
that the island is currently experiencing, local acceptability towards them was
waning," a prefectural source told the Ile-de-France daily to explain the
suddenness of this transfer.
On site
until mid-March
The
majority of them will remain in place until mid-March before being redirected
to permanent accommodation solutions in the provinces. The others will join
family in the Paris region.
This
arrival seems to have taken the municipality by surprise: Mayor Nadine Gohard,
who wrote to her constituents, confided that she was surprised "by the
suddenness and urgency of the request" and that she had no say in the
matter, as the decision had been imposed by the prefecture.

According
to Le Parisien, the state-owned Château de Thiverval-Grignon had already taken
in 200 homeless refugees at the end of 2022 for several months. The estate was
home to the AgroParisTech engineering school until 2022.
A total of
308 refugees of African origin, occupants of the Cavani camp in Mayotte and who
had been granted asylum, took off on Monday during the day for mainland France,
while 14 others, rejected, were sent back to their country of origin on Friday.
The other
113 or so deported migrants are expected to be taken care of by two other
prefectures, Mayotte 1ère reports.
The
installation of these migrants in the Cavani stadium was the starting point for
blockades and roadblocks by groups of residents opposed to immigration, which
are still partially paralyzing the archipelago.
The
dismantling of the camp began at the end of January, in several waves, then
resumed on a larger scale last weekend.
