Le Premier ministre tient "à apporter son soutien au proviseur et à la communauté éducative" en le recevant à partir de 16H30, a indiqué son entourage avant ce rendez-vous où Gabriel Attal devait être accompagné par sa ministre de l'Education nationale, Nicole Belloubet.

 

Le Premier ministre a estimé mi-mars que la laïcité à l'école "est menacée", et s'était dit "engagé pour le plein respect" de ce principe, alors que son application à l'école continue à faire des remous, vingt ans après la loi interdisant le port de signes religieux ostentatoires à l'école.

 

Nicole Belloubet s'était rendue début mars à la cité scolaire Maurice-Ravel, dans le XXe arrondissement, pour apporter son "soutien" au chef d'établissement, en déplorant les "attaques inacceptables" dont il était la cible sur les réseaux depuis l'altercation le 28 février avec une élève, scolarisée en BTS, à qui il avait demandé de retirer son voile.

 

Une enquête avait été ouverte à Paris pour cyberharcèlement, après des menaces de mort à l'encontre du proviseur, proférées sur internet. Un jeune homme de 26 ans, originaire des Hauts-de-Seine, a été arrêté et doit être jugé le 23 avril à Paris pour l'avoir menacé de mort sur internet.

 

- "Pas de vagues" -

 

Deux plaintes avaient, par ailleurs, été déposées: une par l'élève "pour violences n'ayant pas entraîné d'incapacité de travail", et une par le proviseur "pour acte d'intimidation envers une personne participant à l'exécution d'une mission de service public pour obtenir une dérogation aux règles régissant ce service".

 

La plainte de l'élève a été classée sans suite pour "infraction insuffisamment caractérisée", a indiqué mercredi le parquet de Paris.

 

Un mois après les faits, le proviseur a quitté ses fonctions "pour des raisons de sécurité", selon un message envoyé mardi aux enseignants, élèves et parents par le nouveau chef d'établissement.

 

Le rectorat, lui, a évoqué "des convenances personnelles" et un "départ anticipé" à la retraite, à "quelques mois" de celle-ci, "au vu des événements qui ont marqué ces dernières semaines".

 

Ce départ anticipé a suscité une vague d'indignation dans la classe politique. De la gauche à l'extrême droite, des responsables ont déploré un "échec" face à la "mouvance islamiste", cinq mois et demi après la mort de l'enseignant Dominique Bernard, poignardé par un ancien élève radicalisé, et trois ans et demi après l'assassinat du professeur d'histoire Samuel Paty.

 

"Voilà à quoi aboutit le +pas de vagues+, voilà où nous mènent les petites lâchetés et les grands renoncements", a réagi le président des sénateurs LR Bruno Retailleau.

 

- "Equipes mobilisées" -

 

"On ne peut pas l'accepter", a déclaré le chef des députés socialistes Boris Vallaud, dénonçant "un échec collectif".

 

"C'est surtout une défaite de l'Etat", a estimé sur Sud Radio la tête de liste Reconquête! aux élections européennes, Marion Maréchal.

 

La maire (PS) de Paris, Anne Hidalgo, est "atterrée et consternée" mais "comprend" la décision "de se protéger", selon son cabinet. Valérie Pécresse, présidente de la Région Ile-de-France, a jugé que les "agresseurs (du proviseur, ndlr) doivent être mis hors d’état de nuire".

 

Le nouveau proviseur de la cité scolaire, qui a pris ses fonctions lundi, a expliqué avoir été "missionné par la direction académique" pour assurer l'"intérim jusqu'au mois de juillet prochain", dans son message à la communauté éducative.

 

Lors de sa visite début mars dans l'établissement, Mme Belloubet avait souligné qu'une "série de mesures" avait été prise pour protéger le proviseur, "de la protection fonctionnelle à un travail sur les réseaux sociaux, en lien avec la plateforme Pharos" de signalement des contenus illicites en ligne, en passant par "la sécurisation de l'établissement".

 

Son ministère a assuré mercredi qu'il "n'abandonn(ait) jamais ses agents" face aux menaces et que ses équipes "demeurent mobilisées".

Two complaints had also been filed: one by the pupil "for violence that did not result in incapacity for work", and one by the principal "for an act of intimidation against a person participating in the performance of a public service mission in order to obtain an exemption from the rules governing this service".

 

The student's complaint was dismissed for "insufficiently serious offense," the Paris prosecutor's office said Wednesday.

 

A month after the incident, the headmaster has left his post "for security reasons", according to a message sent to teachers, pupils and parents on Tuesday by the new head of school.

 

The rectorate, for its part, evoked "personal conveniences" and an "early retirement", "a few months" before it, "in view of the events that have marked the last few weeks".

 

This early departure sparked a wave of indignation in the political class. From the left to the far right, officials have deplored a "failure" in the face of the "Islamist movement", five and a half months after the death of teacher Dominique Bernard, stabbed by a radicalized former student, and three and a half years after the murder of history teacher Samuel Paty.

 

"This is what +no waves+ leads to, this is where small cowardice and great renunciations lead us," reacted the president of the LR senators Bruno Retailleau.

 

- 'Teams mobilised' -

 

"We can't accept it," said Socialist MP leader Boris Vallaud, denouncing "a collective failure".

 

"Above all, it's a defeat for the state," the head of the Reconquête! in the European elections, Marion Maréchal.
