candidato presidencial Henrique Gouveia e Melo acusou esta segunda-feira, 27 de
outubro, André Ventura de ter entrado “num corrupio de xenofobismo e racismo”
que faz lembrar o sistema hitleriano, que usou os judeus como um bode
expiatório.
“O doutor
André Ventura entrou num corrupio de xenofobismo e de racismo, porque é essa a
palavra certa, que mostra a tal intolerância que a democracia não deve
tolerar”, afirmou o candidato presidencial, que falava à agência Lusa no final
de uma visita à Associação Académica de Coimbra (AAC).
Para
Gouveia e Melo, é possível não concordar com uma imigração de “portas
escancaradas” – com a qual também não concorda – sem se definir “pela cor ou
pelos trajes quem são as pessoas que devem ficar em Portugal ou não”.
Questionado
sobre cartazes de André Ventura dirigidos a comunidades específicas do
Bangladesh e de etnia cigana, o candidato presidencial considerou que esse tipo
de comunicação “é racismo puro e duro”.
“Faz-me
lembrar o sistema hitleriano que arranjou um bode expiatório que era os judeus,
na altura. E agora estamos a tentar arranjar em Portugal outro bode expiatório.
Os portugueses misturaram-se com todos os povos do mundo, navegaram por todo o
mundo, é um povo que tem mundo, é um povo que tem perto de metade da sua
população emigrada noutros países. Portanto, é preciso um bocado de bom senso
no que nós dizemos sobre determinado tipo de matéria”, vincou.
O
candidato presidencial acusou ainda André Ventura de espalhar desinformação e
pôr na sua boca “falsidades” sobre a lei de estrangeiros, disseminando-as
depois nas redes sociais, “criando uma ideia que não corresponde à verdade”.
“Até
chegou a ser ofensivo a dizer que se eu quisesse ser presidente, que fosse
presidente lá para o Hindustão. Eu não reconheço no doutor André Ventura nenhum
tipo de patriotismo superior ao meu. Eu estive na linha da frente diversas
vezes em risco de vida e, portanto, não recebo recados de um senhor que nunca
serviu, enquanto militar ou bombeiro”, disse.
Henrique
Gouveia e Melo fez também referência à posição de Ventura que defendeu “três
Salazares” para o país, questionando se o líder do Chega pretende voltar “aos
índices de pobreza que existiam no tempo da ditadura” ou retirar a liberdade
aos cidadãos.
O
candidato presidencial considerou que há “um jogo antidemocrático que se começa
a instalar” como se fosse normal, quando não o pode ser.
“A
democracia, que é a tolerância, não pode permitir a intolerância. Porque a
intolerância subverte a democracia com perigo para a própria democracia”,
disse, aconselhando André Ventura “a fazer o jogo democrático”.
Sobre a
acusação também feita pelo líder do Chega de que se estaria a aproximar do PS e
do Bloco de Esquerda, Gouveia e Melo entendeu que se Ventura fosse “um bocado
mais velho” poderia “compreender o papel do doutor Mário Soares na fixação da
democracia em Portugal”.
“Se
calhar, ele não gosta do doutor Mário Soares, porque não é verdadeiramente
democrático”, disse.

candidate Henrique Gouveia e Melo accused this Monday, October 27, André
Ventura of having entered "a corruption of xenophobia and racism"
reminiscent of the Hitler system, which used Jews as a scapegoat.
"Dr.
André Ventura has entered a corruption of xenophobism and racism, because that
is the right word, which shows such intolerance that democracy should not
tolerate," said the presidential candidate, who was speaking to the Lusa
agency at the end of a visit to the Academic Association of Coimbra (AAC).
For
Gouveia e Melo, it is possible not to agree with an immigration with "open
doors" – with which he also does not agree – without defining "by
colour or clothes who are the people who should stay in Portugal or not".
Asked
about André Ventura's posters aimed at specific Bangladeshi and Roma
communities, the presidential candidate considered that this type of
communication "is pure and hard racism".
"It
reminds me of the Hitlerian system that found a scapegoat that was the Jews at
the time. And now we are trying to find another scapegoat in Portugal. The
Portuguese mixed with all the peoples of the world, they sailed all over the
world, it is a people that has a world, it is a people that has close to half
of its population emigrated in other countries. Therefore, it takes a lot of
common sense in what we say about a certain type of matter", he stressed.
The
presidential candidate also accused André Ventura of spreading disinformation
and putting "falsehoods" about the law on foreigners in his mouth,
then disseminating them on social networks, "creating an idea that does
not correspond to the truth".
"It
was even offensive to say that if I wanted to be president, I should be
president there for Hindustan. I do not recognize in Dr. André Ventura any kind
of patriotism superior to mine. I have been on the front line several times at
risk of my life and, therefore, I do not receive messages from a gentleman who
has never served, as a military or firefighter," he said.
Henrique
Gouveia e Melo also made reference to Ventura's position that defended
"three Salazares" for the country, questioning whether the leader of
Chega intends to return "to the poverty rates that existed at the time of
the dictatorship" or take away freedom from citizens.
The
presidential candidate considered that there is "an anti-democratic game
that is beginning to take place" as if it were normal, when it cannot be.
"Democracy,
which is tolerance, cannot allow intolerance. Because intolerance subverts
democracy with danger to democracy itself", he said, advising André
Ventura "to play the democratic game".
Regarding
the accusation also made by the leader of Chega that he was getting closer to
the PS and the Left Bloc, Gouveia e Melo understood that if Ventura were
"a little older" he could "understand the role of Dr. Mário
Soares in the establishment of democracy in Portugal".
"Maybe
he doesn't like Dr. Mário Soares, because he is not truly democratic," he
said.
