verificar “elementos” encontrados nas buscas
A polícia portuguesa realizou a pedido das autoridades
alemãs, buscas durante três dias na barragem do Arade para tentar encontrar
indícios relacionados com o desaparecimento de Madeleine McCann.

O Ministério
Público (MP) de Brunswick, Alemanha, divulgou hoje que está por determinar a
ligação ao caso "Maddie" de "elementos" recolhidos durante
os três dias de buscas na barragem do Arade, em Silves.
"Alguns
elementos foram recolhidos no âmbito desta operação. Eles serão analisados nos
próximos dias e semanas", afirmou num comunicado a procuradoria-geral de
Brunswick, acrescentando que "ainda é muito cedo" para determinar se
eles estão ligados ao caso.
A polícia
portuguesa realizou, na semana passada, a pedido das autoridades alemãs, buscas
durante três dias na barragem do Arade para tentar encontrar indícios
relacionados com o desaparecimento de Madeleine McCann há 16 anos na praia da
Luz, no concelho de Lagos, e encaminhou para a Alemanha o material recolhido.
O local em que
decorreram as buscas costumava ser frequentado pelo cidadão alemão Christian
Brueckner, suspeito do desaparecimento de "Maddie".
O MP alemão,
citado pela agência France Presse, referiu ainda que "a investigação
conduzida em Brunswick sobre o suspeito de 46 anos provavelmente continuará por
muito tempo".
Christian
Brueckner está a cumprir pena em Kiel (Alemanha) por outro crime. Foi também
acusado em Outubro do ano passado pela justiça alemã de três crimes de violação
e dois de abusos sexuais de crianças em território português, alegadamente
cometidos entre 2000 e 2017.
Embora as
acusações contra Brueckner não estejam ligadas ao caso "Maddie", os
investigadores alemães têm vindo, desde 2020, a apontá-lo como o principal
suspeito do desaparecimento e alegado homicídio da criança britânica.
O suspeito negou
qualquer envolvimento no caso.
A região da
barragem do Arade, localizada a cerca de cinquenta quilómetros do local do
desaparecimento de "Maddie", já tinha sido vasculhada em 2008,
inclusive por mergulhadores que encontraram apenas restos de animais.
A Polícia
Judiciária (PJ) coordenou as buscas que tiveram o envolvimento de outras
entidades portuguesas e que foram acompanhadas por autoridades alemãs e
inglesas.

The Public
Prosecutor's Office (MP) of Brunswick, Germany, announced today that it is yet
to determine the connection to the "Maddie" case of
"elements" collected during the three days of searches at the Arade
dam, in Silves.
"Some
elements were collected as part of this operation. They will be reviewed in the
coming days and weeks," the Brunswick attorney general's office said in a
statement, adding that it was "still too early" to determine whether
they were linked to the case.
Last week,
at the request of the German authorities, the Portuguese police carried out a
three-day search of the Arade dam to try to find evidence related to the
disappearance of Madeleine McCann 16 years ago in Praia da Luz, in the
municipality of Lagos, and forwarded the collected material to Germany.
The place
where the searches took place used to be frequented by the German citizen
Christian Brueckner, a suspect in the disappearance of "Maddie".
The German
prosecutor, quoted by Agence France Presse, also said that "the
investigation conducted in Brunswick on the 46-year-old suspect is likely to
continue for a long time."
Christian
Brueckner is serving a sentence in Kiel (Germany) for another crime. He was
also charged in October last year by the German justice with three crimes of
rape and two of sexual abuse of children in Portuguese territory, allegedly
committed between 2000 and 2017.
Although
the charges against Brueckner are not linked to the "Maddie" case,
German investigators have, since 2020, been pointing to him as the main suspect
in the disappearance and alleged murder of the British child.
The suspect
has denied any involvement in the case.
The region
of the Arade dam, located about fifty kilometers from the site of
"Maddie's" disappearance, had already been searched in 2008,
including by divers who found only animal remains.
The
Judiciary Police (PJ) coordinated the searches, which had the involvement of
other Portuguese entities and were accompanied by German and English
authorities.
