An angry
crowd confronted members of Lebanon's Presidential Guard, an elite branch of
the Lebanese Armed Forces, in Beirut's hard hit Gemmayzeh neighbourhood on
Friday.
The group
could be seen chanting at service members who were allegedly there to make room
for a visit by the country's 85 year-old president, Michel Aoun.
Gemmayzeh,
a popular and historical district in the city with many buildings dating back
to the country's French Mandate, was damaged extensively by Tuesday's
explosions.
The
government is currently conducting an investigation to identify culpability for
the blasts, and has reportedly taken 16 individuals into custody as part of the
probe.
