LONDON — Michael Gove has become the latest member of the British government to go into self-isolation because of the coronavirus.

The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, who has a key role overseeing civil servants' response to the virus, said on Tuesday he was quarantining at home in accordance with official guidance.

"...I am isolating at home after a member of my family started to display mild symptoms of coronavirus on Sunday," Gove said on Twitter. "I have not displayed any symptoms and am continuing to work as normal."

Gove carried out interviews with broadcasters earlier Tuesday to field questions about Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who went into intensive care with persistent coronavirus symptoms on Monday night.
