Motion of
censure was rejected, only with favorable votes from Chega
As
expected, the 60 deputies of Chega were the only ones to vote in favor of the
motion of censure that their party presented and was rejected by the majority
of deputies. The moment the president of the Assembly of the Republic, José
Pedro Aguiar-Branco, announced the result of the vote, all the deputies of the
proposing bench stood up, repeating the word "resignation" in unison
for more than a minute.
The
motion had 104 votes against, from the benches of the PSD, CDS-PP, Liberal
Initiative, Livre and PAN, as well as 62 abstentions, among the deputies of the
PS, PCP, Left Bloc and Together for the People.
