motion of censure, and ended his speech as he began it: stating
"motivation" to continue in office.

position that he would only leave if the Government fell
More than
four hours later, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Luís Neves, heard this
Tuesday in the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and
Guarantees, remained adamant about the position he holds, guaranteeing that he
will only leave it by the will of the Prime Minister or if the Government
falls. In the meantime, he said, he maintains "confidence" in himself
to continue to perform government functions.
During
two rounds of questions, which were scheduled (mainly in the second part) by
the deputies of Chega trying to push the minister against the wall, Luís Neves
justified the presence of the trailer used to transport chemical products
intended to separate drugs from other products at the premises of the company
ConstruBarcelos – which had been hired by the minister to carry out works at
his house in Odemira – with the lack of conditions given to the PJ to store
this type of products.
In a
response given to the parliamentary leader of the PCP, Paula Santos, the
minister justified that the trailer had been placed "in the custody of a
private company", as the communist deputy had pointed out, because the PJ,
in 2025, faced "great difficulties" logistically, recalling that one
of the warehouses was full of adulterated olive oil and that ASAE "for two
years" did not find space for the material. He assured that the PJ has
requested successive budgets to finance the destruction of the products, after
the budget, already confirmed by the Ministry of Justice, referred to 144
thousand euros, which were not allocated for this purpose at the time.
Luís
Neves also had moments of humor in his speech, especially in the most heated
exchange of impressions, which took place with IL deputy Rui Rocha. Asked by
the liberal if he belongs or belonged to Freemasonry, Luís Neves assured that
he did not: "I belong to the Clube Académico do Fundão, the Clube
Recreativo do Feijó and the Atlético Clube da Almada."
On two
occasions, there was also an opportunity to quote the founder of the PSD,
Francisco Sá Carneiro, but not on the part of the social democratic bench.
First,
the parliamentary leader of Chega, Pedro Pinto, evoked the former prime
minister recalling his words "First the country, then the party and
finally the personal circumstance."
"You
do it the other way around", criticized the Chega deputy, ending the
party's intervention in the first round of questions.
Sá
Carneiro was remembered again a second time, but by PS deputy Isabel Moreira,
recalling that "politics without ethics is really a shame". The
socialist deputy, in a reference to Chega and the whole story that led to the
motion of censure advanced by André Ventura's party against the Government,
also considered that the political debate cannot be captured by partisan
confrontations that, in her opinion, are degrading the regime and obscuring
government responsibilities.
In a
joint response to socialist deputies Elsa Pais and Eva Cruzeiro, Luís Neves
also subliminally reiterated a promise he had made the previous week about the
fight against populism. In this way, the Minister of Internal Affairs argued
that "all people must be protected, regardless of their origin. This is a
level from which I will never leave", he assured.
"All
people must be treated with equal dignity," he concluded.

Mais de
quatro horas depois, o ministro da Administração Interna, Luís Neves, ouvido
esta terça-feira na Comissão dos Assuntos Constitucionais, Direitos, Liberdades
e Garantias, manteve-se inflexível relativamente ao cargo que ocupa, garantindo
que só o deixará por vontade do primeiro-ministro ou se o Governo cair.
Entretanto, afirmou, mantém "confiança" em si próprio para continuar
a desempenhar as funções governativas.
Durante
duas rondas de perguntas, que foram marcadas (principalmente na segunta parte)
pelos deputados do Chega a tentar encostar o ministro à parede, Luís Neves
justificou a presença do atrelado utilizado para transportar produtos químicos
destinados a separar droga de outros produtos nas instalações da empresa
ConstruBarcelos – que tinha sido contratada pelo ministro para fazer obras na
sua casa de Odemira – com a falta de condições dadas à PJ para armezenar este
tipo de produtos.
Numa
resposta dada à líder parlamentar do PCP, Paula Santos, o ministro justificou
que o atrelado tinha sido colocado “à guarda de uma empresa privada”, tal como
apontara a deputada comunista, porque a PJ, em 2025, enfrentava “grandes
dificuldades” logísticas, lembrando que um dos armazéns estava cheio de azeite
adulterado e que a ASAE “durante dois anos” não encontrou espaço para o
material. Garantiu que a PJ tem pedido sucessivos orçamentos para financiar a
destruição dos produtos, depois de o orçamento, já confirmado pelo Ministério
da Justiça, ter referido 144 mil euros, que não foram na altura alocados para o
efeito.
Luís
Neves teve ainda momentos de humor na sua intervenção, especialmente na troca
de impressões mais acesa, que ocorreu com o deputado da IL Rui Rocha.
Questionado pelo liberal se pertence ou pertenceu à Maçonaria, Luís Neves
assegurou que não: "Pertenço ao Clube Académico do Fundão, ao Clube
Recreativo do Feijó e ao Atlético Clube da Almada.”
Em dois
momentos, houve ainda oportunidade para citar o fundador do PSD, Francisco Sá
Carneiro, mas não por parte da bancada social-democrata.
Primeiro,
o líder parlamentar do Chega, Pedro Pinto, evocou o antigo primeiro-ministro
lembrando as suas palavras "Primeiro o país, depois o partido e por fim a
circunstância pessoal."
"O
senhor faz ao contrário", criticou o deputado do Chega, encerrando a
intervenção do partido na primaira ronda de perguntas.
Sá
Carneiro voltou a ser lembrado uma segunda vez, mas pela deputada do PS Isabel
Moreira, lembando que "a política sem ética é mesmo uma vergonha”. A
deputada socialista, numa referência ao Chega e a toda a história que conduziu
à moção de censura avançada pelo partido de André Ventura contra o Governo,
considerou ainda que o debate político não pode ser capturado por confrontações
partidárias que, no seu entender, estão a degradar o regime e a obscurecer
responsabilidades governativas.
Num
resposta conjunta às deputadas socialistas Elsa Pais e Eva Cruzeiro, Luís Neves
ainda reiterou, de forma subliminar, uma promessa que fizera na semana anterior
sobre o combate ao populismo. Deste modo, o ministro da Administração Interna
defendeu que "todas as pessoas devem ser protegidas, independentemente da
sua origem. Este é um patamar do qual nunca sairei", assegurou.
"Todas
as pessoas devem ser tratadas com igual dignidade", concluiu.
