Sterling, the Republican in charge of Georgia's voting system, pleaded with
Georgians to go out and vote in the Senate run off while also debunking each of
President Trump's and his supporters baseless election claims.
- A top Georgia election official denounced Donald Trump’s baseless claims of widespread voter fraud as “provably false.” During a press conference this afternoon, Gabriel Sterling refuted Trump’s allegations point by point and pleaded with Georgians to vote in tomorrow’s Senate runoff races, which will determine control of the chamber. “Do not self-suppress your own vote,” Sterling said.
- Brad Raffensperger acknowledged Trump may face an investigation from the Fulton county district attorney’s office, after the president demanded that the Georgia secretary of state “find” enough votes to throw the state to him. Joe Biden won Georgia by nearly 12,000 votes.
- Two House Democrats called on the FBI to investigate the call. The two lawmakers, Ted Lieu of California and Kathleen Rice of New York, wrote in a letter to FBI director Christopher Wray, “The evidence of election fraud by Mr Trump is now in broad daylight.”
- Trump awarded the presidential medal of freedom to Devin Nunes, one of his fiercest defenders in Congress amid the Russia investigation. Nunes has been frequently criticized for spreading conspiracy theories about the 2016 election and downplaying findings from the US intelligence community.
- Almost 200 business leaders urged Congress to certify Biden’s victory in the presidential election. In a letter obtained by the Washington Post, the business leaders said, “The presidential election has been decided and it is time for the country to move forward.” The letter comes as some Republican lawmakers have said they plan to object to Congress’ electoral vote count on Wednesday.
