Restore
Britain is a distinct, harder-right breakaway party founded by Rupert Lowe
following his split from Nigel Farage’s Reform UK.
Leadership
and Origins
- Restore Britain: Founded in February 2026 by
Rupert Lowe after disputes and his eventual departure/suspension from
Reform UK. It operates further to the right of Reform and has attracted a
mix of disaffected voters, council defectors, and figures from fringe or
historic nationalist backgrounds.
- Reform UK: Led by Nigel Farage (with
deputy Richard Tice), positioning itself as a broad populist,
right-wing party focused on mainstream electoral breakthroughs and
sweeping governance changes.
Policy
and Ideological Differences
- Immigration & Identity:
- Restore Britain adopts an explicit
ethno-nationalist platform, campaigning for absolute net-negative
immigration, mass deportations, banning face coverings like the burqa and
niqab, and prohibiting religious slaughter methods such as kosher and
halal.
- Reform UK focuses heavily on curbing
legal and illegal migration—proposing a freezing of non-essential
migration, replacing Indefinite Leave to Remain with five-year renewable
visas, and establishing a dedicated deportation command for illegal
entrants—but does not feature cultural/religious bans like clothing or
dietary restrictions in its core platform.
- Social and Cultural Issues:
- Restore Britain advocates for direct public
referendums on bringing back the death penalty and seeks major cuts or
dismantling of public funding for the BBC.
- Reform UK concentrates its platform
primarily on economic populism, lowering taxes, reducing public sector
and civil service bloat, scrapping net-zero climate commitments, and
overhauling the welfare system to restrict foreign national access,
rather than pushing for capital punishment or specific religious/cultural
garment bans.
