ULTIMATUM to
Pedro Sánchez to REVEAL HIS DEAL with Morocco
The Instituto
de Política Social (IMSE) issued a 72-hour ultimatum to Spanish Prime
Minister Pedro Sánchez demanding the immediate publication of all secret
agreements, minutes, and commitments made with Morocco since 2022.
The demand
follows a major geopolitical and humanitarian crisis triggered by a sudden
influx of over 60,000 migrants into the Spanish North African enclave of Ceuta.
Context
of the Ultimatum
- The Trigger: In late July and early August
2026, tens of thousands of migrants crossed into Ceuta. Political
opponents and civil organizations claim Morocco used mass migration as a
geopolitical tool to pressure Spain.
- The Accusation: Critics accuse the Sánchez
administration of extreme opacity regarding its shifting diplomacy with
Rabat. The IMSE demands a clear answer to what Spain has conceded to
Morocco in exchange for border control cooperation.
- The 2022 Shift: The controversy stems back to
March 2022, when Sánchez broke decades of Spanish neutrality by backing
Morocco's autonomy plan over the disputed Western Sahara territory.
Key
Demands from IMSE
- Full Disclosure: Immediate publication of all
hidden annexes, documents, and pacts regarding Ceuta, Melilla, borders,
customs, and Western Sahara.
- Parliamentary Audit: An independent legislative
investigation into Spain's dealings with Morocco.
- Sovereignty Assurances: A formal rectification from
Rabat after Moroccan institutions repeatedly referred to Ceuta and Melilla
as "occupied cities".
Broader
Fallout
The crisis
has caused massive domestic and international friction. Domestically, the
opposition Partido Popular (PP) is hammering Sánchez for failing to
anticipate the border surge. Internationally, the fallout prompted Italy to unilaterally shut its borders to Spanish travelers
over Schengen security concerns, leading to an aggressive diplomatic spat
between Madrid and Rome.
