Carla has
served on Thetford Town Council for six years and is looking forward to her
year as Mayor. “One of the things that makes Thetford so special is its diverse
community. We are a town made up of people from many different backgrounds, and
I see this as one of our greatest strengths. Each of us brings something
unique, different skills, cultures, and perspectives—that add richness and
colour to our town. By embracing this diversity, we can build a more inclusive
and vibrant Thetford,” she said.
“During my
time as Mayor, I want to focus on strengthening community engagement,
supporting local businesses, and enhancing our town’s green spaces and public
services. My goal is to create a more connected and welcoming town where
everyone feels heard and valued.”
During her
tenure, Carla plans to strengthen community engagement, support local
businesses, and enhance public services and green spaces. She encourages
residents to share their ideas and concerns, believing communication is key to
making progress in the town.
Originally
from Viana do Castelo, Portugal, Carla has been a Thetford resident for many
years. As Deputy Mayor in 2024/2025, she played a key role in strengthening
ties between Thetford and Portugal, including hosting the Portuguese Ambassador
and engaging with students at Thetford Academy. With Thetford experiencing
rapid growth, particularly with the Kingsfleet development and upcoming
infrastructure projects, Carla aims to bring fresh ideas, strengthen local
partnerships, and celebrate Thetford’s identity.
