Seven million migrants will come to the UK in the next decade, pushing the nation’s population to a record high, according to official data.

 According to Office for National Statistics projections, long-term immigration to the UK is forecast at roughly 7 to 9.9 million over the next decade. However, factoring in an estimated 5 million departures, projected net migration is expected to add about 2.2 to 4.9 million people, pushing the total population toward a peak of over 71 million by the mid-2030s.

  • Emigration: Roughly 5 million people are forecast to leave the UK during the same period.
