Vance says
Trump administration ‘absolutely screwed up’ release of the Epstein files
During an
interview on The Joe Rogan Experience, Vice President JD Vance admitted
that the Trump administration “absolutely screwed up the comms”
surrounding the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. While Vance acknowledged
the public relations failure, he firmly denied that the administration was
trying to hide information or protect anyone.
Key
Details of Vance's Comments
- The Blame on Communication: Vance specifically pointed to
former Attorney General Pam Bondi, stating she "overstated what we
had and what we didn’t have". Bondi had previously claimed a
"client list" was sitting on her desk and distributed binders to
conservative influencers that mostly contained public information, leading
to public "roasting" and mistrust.
- No Malicious Intent: Vance stated he likes Bondi and
does not believe anything malicious occurred. He attributed the mistakes
to her trying to over-respond to a heavy political moment.
- Advocating for Immediate
Release: Vance
expressed that the administration should have "dropped everything at
the very beginning" and released the documents as quickly as
possible.
- Defending Trump: He rejected the idea that
Donald Trump was forced by Congress to release the files, asserting that
Trump could have easily killed the legislation if he wanted to but instead
insisted on releasing them. He added that he has never seen any credible
evidence linking Trump to wrongdoing with minors.
- Intelligence Agency Speculation: When asked by Joe Rogan about
theories surrounding Jeffrey Epstein, Vance speculated that Epstein
clearly had connections to the highest levels of American and Israeli
intelligence, mentioning agencies like the CIA and Mossad
