Thierry
Baudet does not understand the fuss about his statement about 'homeopathic
dilution' of the Dutch people. 'It's a pity that some politicians and the media
take a statement out of context and then keep bringing it up.'
The
politician of Forum for Democracy is concerned with people from other cultures
who enter the Netherlands and do not integrate. 'As a result, we are in danger
of losing our values and freedoms.'
Sylvana
Simons of Article 1 reacted critically. 'I immediately think of my own
children, who have a white father and a black mother.' Baudet said he mainly
meant migrants who are now entering the country.

Baudet does not understand the fuss about his statement about 'homeopathic
dilution' of the Dutch people
In 2017,
there was a lot of commotion after FvD leader Thierry Baudet spoke in an
interview about the "homeopathic dilution" of the Dutch people. He
used this term to express his concerns about the influence of immigration on
Dutch culture and identity.
Baudet
indicated at the time that he did not understand the fierce criticism. His main
arguments were:
Metaphorical
language: According to Baudet, the term was intended as a metaphor for the slow
disappearance of the original Dutch culture due to the arrival of other
cultures.
No racial
theory: He denied that the statement had a racist or biological connotation. He
stated that he was concerned with cultural unity and not with bloodlines or
ethnicity.
Freedom
of speech: He felt that he was raising a legitimate social problem and that
critics were deliberately interpreting his words maliciously.
Criticism
from opponents
Critics
and political opponents, however, did see the ruling as racist. They pointed
out that the term "homeopathic dilution" suggests that the Dutch
people are a biological entity that loses "strength" or
"purity" by mixing with other groups. This kind of rhetoric was
associated by many with the extreme right or even Nazi ideology.
