Both movements blend theological, apocalyptic beliefs with political goals, supporting nationalist agendas and strengthening each other within American conservative politics.

 

Key Aspects of the Relationship:

Common Ideology of Exceptionalism: Both operate on the belief that a specific group is chosen by God, fostering a "binary, exclusionary world" where their political aims are divinely ordained.

Overlap in Politics and Support: Christian Zionism is deeply embedded within the U.S. Christian Nationalist movement (e.g., the MAGA movement), often operating as a key foreign policy pillar for adherents.

Shared Goal of Political Influence: Both seek to impose a specific religious viewpoint on government, with Christian Nationalists prioritizing the Christianization of the US, while Christian Zionists advocate for unwavering support for the state of Israel.

Theological Justification: Christian Zionism sees the modern state of Israel as a fulfillment of prophecy, while Christian Nationalism sees America as having a divine mandate, with supporters often arguing that if America does not support Israel, God will withdraw his blessing from America.

Exclusionary Nature: Both movements are accused of contributing to "outsider" status for minorities, with Christian Nationalism
