Ventura, elogiou na manhã deste sábado (12) o acordo alcançado com o Governo
para endurecer as regras da imigração, aprovado na última sexta-feira (11), em
comissão parlamentar. “Trabalhámos horas e horas para garantir um texto final”,
disse o presidente do Chega em declaração aos jornalistas, reconhecendo que nem
todas as propostas do partido foram aceites, como a exigência de seguro de
saúde, mas garantindo “conquistas importantes”.
Entre as
medidas, destacou a obrigatoriedade de quem pede reagrupamento familiar
comprovar, antes de viajar, que tem meios de subsistência e alojamento em
Portugal. Segundo Ventura, esta regra vai reduzir a pressão sobre a habitação e
a segurança social e favorecer a integração.
Outra
medida, que chamou de “mudança paradigmática”, impede beneficiários de
reagrupamento de dependerem de subsídios. “Não é para afastar os pobres, mas o
país não precisa de quem venha viver à conta da segurança social”, afirmou.
O líder do
Chega admitiu que o partido quer “ir mais longe”, mas garantiu que ficou
assegurada a exigência de autonomia financeira para autorizar reagrupamentos.
As
alterações à lei dos estrangeiros seguem para votação final em plenário na
próxima quarta-feira (16), antes das férias parlamentares.

Ventura, praised this Saturday morning (12) the agreement reached with the
Government to tighten immigration rules, approved last Friday (11), in a
parliamentary committee. "We worked for hours and hours to secure a final
text," said the president of Chega in a statement to journalists,
acknowledging that not all of the party's proposals were accepted, such as the
requirement for health insurance, but guaranteeing "important
achievements".
Among the
measures, he highlighted the obligation for those who apply for family
reunification to prove, before traveling, that they have means of subsistence
and accommodation in Portugal. According to Ventura, this rule will reduce the
pressure on housing and social security and favor integration.
Another
measure, which he called a "paradigm shift," prevents reunification
beneficiaries from relying on subsidies. "It is not to keep the poor away,
but the country does not need someone to come and live on social
security," he said.
The leader
of Chega admitted that the party wants to "go further", but assured
that the requirement of financial autonomy to authorize regroupings was
assured.
The changes
to the law on foreigners will go to a final vote in plenary next Wednesday
(16), before the parliamentary vacation.
