After
rumblings in the cabinet and persistent criticism of party leader Dilan
Yeşilgöz, the VVD loses heavily in the seat poll this month: from 23 to 15
seats. At the top, the PVV (33 seats) again distances itself from
GroenLinks-PvdA (26 seats). The arrest for the murder of Lisa (17) from Abcoude
at a COA location cannot be seen separately from the increase in the number of
PVV seats.
Political
reporter Tessa van Viegen was in contact with EenVandaag, which conducted the
investigation. "They said that these kinds of incidents do indeed have an
influence on that," said Van Viegen in Good Evening Netherlands on NPO 1.
"That's because the suspect is an asylum seeker. You see that voters react
to that and think: we should vote for the PVV."
Meanwhile,
the free fall of the VVD continues. "The right-wing voter is going
somewhere," says Van Viegen. "He is going to look and now partly ends
up with the PVV."
'Shameless'
"I
see Wilders using this terrible event electorally," responds former VVD MP
Ton Elias. "He does that shamelessly. At the same time, there is also a
problem, but to link it entirely to this point... That's something."

"Geert
Wilders is the master of milking."
Behavioral
psychologist Tom de Bruyne can explain the PVV increase. "Electorally, it
works in such a way that if a certain theme becomes dominant, in this case
migration and fear of migration, the PVV wins. If that becomes the most
important thing in people's heads, the PVV always wins. He is the master of
milking."
Wilders'
plea
As a kind
of guilty pleasure, De Bruyne himself subscribes to the PVV newsletter.
"He begged his supporters to put an end to the asylum problem. He says
this in the most vehement words. Let me put an end to this, I'll solve it for
you. He only keeps hammering on that one nail, because if it becomes dominant,
he will win the elections."
"The
shamelessness of Wilders is really embarrassing," says D66 party leader
Rob Jetten. "In recent years, he has voted against all plans to tackle
femicide and violence against women harder. The PVV was simply against that.
And now he's there like the chickens."
"A
number of asylum seekers in the Netherlands should also be monitored much more
closely, in a better reception location, where we also know where they are. But
to lump all violence against women together with migrants, that is the rancid
game of Mr. Wilders. We have to tackle him on that too."
'Big
tactical mistake'
Elias
speaks of "a big tactical mistake" that his party has made.
"When the PVV walked out, the VVD should have said: the experiment has
failed with a civil servant as prime minister. We, the VVD, are now the largest
remaining party and will therefore provide the new Prime Minister. And we are
going to try to arrange a number of things as well as possible with BBB and
NSC. So get those asylum laws through the House."

"The
voter is not stupid, he sees that strategic mistakes have been made and also
expresses this in those polls."

"Then
you would have received a much calmer treatment of that problem and I also
think that the whole situation with NSC would not have happened. The voter is
not stupid, he sees that strategic mistakes have been made and also expresses
this in those polls. October 29 is still a long way off, anything can still
happen, but I do notice that the voter sees: this is not going well."
Not
challenged enough
Sharon
Dijksma, mayor of Utrecht, thinks that Wilders has not been challenged enough.
"What never happens is that there is a discussion with Mr. Wilders about
what consequences his plans have for our economy, for the wallets of the people
at home. I think that's also the reason why he can keep shouting what he
says."
