Speaking at
Congress, Matt Frei, Europe editor with Channel 4, said there were reasons for
believing the rise of populist politics in Europe and the US may have peaked.
Frei, a former Washington correspondent with the British broadcaster, told of
interviewing the then businessman Donald Trump in Trump Tower in New York in
2011, and laughing when told by Mr Trump if he decided to run for president he
would use the slogan “make America great again”.
