Ivanka Trump is engaging with the Jan. 6 select
committee regarding possible cooperation, according to a person familiar with
the committee's work.
This comes amid repeated condemnation hurled at the
panel by Trump himself.

Ivanka's
side of things: Her discussions with the panel suggest that the former
president's eldest daughter has at least some degree of openness regarding its
probe — despite the unstinting vitriol that Donald Trump has leveled at it. The
New York Times first reported on the talks.
Why they
want her story: Ivanka Trump has detailed firsthand knowledge of her father’s
activities during the Jan. 6 attack. The select committee has said she was
present for a phone call that Trump held that morning with then-Vice President
Mike Pence. On the call, he tried to persuade the vice president to block the
certification of the Electoral College votes. After the call ended, according
to the committee, the president’s daughter turned to another listener and said,
“Mike Pence is a good man.”
The select
panel also said she tried several times to persuade the president to make a
statement during the attack that would have quelled the violence.
Being
helpful: Cooperation from the president’s daughter would be a major win for the
panel. But she wouldn’t be the first senior White House official to help the
probe; top staff to Pence have testified at length, and former White House
Chief of Staff Mark Meadows gave the committee thousands of text messages
connected to Jan. 6, 2021.
Per a
spokesperson for the former First Daughter: "Ivanka Trump is in
discussions with the Committee to voluntarily appear for an interview." A
select panel spokesperson declined to comment.
